Deveau Shore Road
This was my first trip to Nova Scotia, and look what I found ~ a road sign with my mother's name on it! This sign is in or near Salmon River. |
|
| New-found relatives Front row: Agnes Deveau (widow of Eddie Deveau), Lorraine Deveau Charchuck (daughter of Yvonne and Melbourn), Yvonne Deveau (widow of Melbourn Deveau), Albert Deveau (son of Agnes)
Back row (L to R): Donald Deveau (son of Yvonne), his wife Alice Deveau, Diane Brakeley (daughter of Belle Deveau).

Robert Deveau's Birth place
Lorraine and Donnie took us on a tour.
This is the house my grandfather Robert
was born and raised in. |
|
Chuck in Cape Breton
We drove from Salmon River in southern Nova Scotia
to the Deveau reunion in Cheticamp on Cape Breton Island in northern Nova Scotia. The scenery up there is gorgeous!
|
Deveau sign
This Deveau sign was on the Main Street of Cheticamp. They were everywhere! as well as Acoin, and other Acadian family names. |
|
| Fort Saint Louis
This is a monument to a fort built and run by my 9th great-grandfather Charles de La Tour.
|
Philippe Mius d'Entremont
Another monument to another 9th great-grandfather! This one is in West Pubnico and the plaque was placed there in 1951 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the settling of Pubnico.
It reads "To the memory of Sir Philippe d'Entremont, pioneer and founder of Pubnico who arrived on August 28, 1651." |
